Art Cafés—Caffè d’arte in Italian—are places where guests can have a coffee or ice-cream served while surrounded by works of art and design. Founded in the main Italian cities during the twentieth century, they have been frequented by literates and artists, and were houses for new avant-garde movements and ideas. Today, some of them are still open, others have ceased their activity under the pressure of high rents and more profitable businesses. To my eyes, they are a testament to a fading lifestyle.
